NATURAL SCIENCE ORAL TEST: Nervous system & locomotor system

As we have already talked about the nervous system and the locomotor system, on Thursday this week you'll be asked about them. Here you have the questions we'll ask you:

NERVOUS SYSTEM

1. The nervous system carries out the function of sensitivity. What is the function of sensitivity?

The nervous system receives the information and interprets the information about the environment. It gives the orders for our body to respond to the stimuli.

2. Name the parts of the nervous system

- Central nervous system: brain and spinal cord

- Peripheral nervous system: nerves

3. Explain what is the process that occurs in the nervous system in this picture (you will have a picture o explain it, the one below it's just an example)

The drivers hear the siren and see the ambulance lights (stimuli). His eyes and ears send the information to the brain. The brain receives and interprets the information and gives an order to his hands to step aside to let it pass (response).

LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM

What is the locomotor system?

It's a system formed by the skeletal system and the muscular system. It's responsible for our movements (muscles) and our shape and structure (bones).

How are muscles attached to bones?

They are attached to bones by tendons.

How do the bones stay stuck in the joints?

Bones meet at joints, where they are held together by ligaments.
