NATURAL SCIENCE ORAL TEST: Digestive system & respiratory system

Remember on Monday/Tuesday you'll be asked oraly about the digestive and the respiratory systems. Here you have the questions we'll ask you:

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

1. What is digestion?

It's the process of breaking down food into nutrients that our body can use.

2. What happens when we eat an apple?

1. In our mouth we chew the apple and we smash it, the apple mixes with the saliva.

2. We swallow it and it's pushed into the pharynx, and it runs down the oesophagus.

3. It reaches the stomach and mixes with the gastric juices.

4. It travels to the small intestine, where mixes with the intestinal juices, bile (liver) and pancreatic juice (pancreas)

In the small intestine the nutrients are absorbed.

5. In the large intestine water is absorbed and the remaining undigested food  leaves the body through the anus.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

What is respiration?

It's the process to obtain oxygen our body needs and to expel the carbon dioxide our body produces.

What is the difference between inhalation and exhalation?

In the inhalation, air enters through the nose, goes to the pharynx, travels down the larynx and the trachea and reaches the lungs through the bronchi. In the lungs,it runs down the bronchioles to reach the air sacs, where gas exchange takes place.

And in the exhalation, the carbon dioxide runs up the way back till the nose or mouth.
